Disciple Classes

Why Study DISCIPLE

DISCIPLE is a program of disciplined Bible study aimed at developing strong Christian leaders. It focuses on the disciple as learner, believer, follower, proclaimer, and servant while providing the fellowship of a small group for study, prayer, preparation, support, and servanthood.

DISCIPLE assumes that the Bible is key to renewal in the church and affirms that the canon was formed as it is in order for God to speak to us. The study gives the Old and New Testaments equal time, emphasizing the wholeness of the Bible as a revelation of God and draws upon the work of scholars to aid understanding of the Bible.

The DISCIPLE Group
DISCIPLE is based on the model of Jesus and the twelve disciples. Group members may come from all walks of life, may or may not be members of the church, or may be first time or experienced students of the Bible. Regardless of their background, groups covenant together in terms of commitment of time, daily and weekly preparation, and attendance at all weekly sessions. The greater the commitment of the group, the more fulfilling the experience.

DISCIPLE CLASSES

Disciple is a four-phase program of disciplined Bible Study.  Participants will study the entire Bible in survey fashion followed by in-depth studies of the whole Bible according to groupings of literature.

The first study, Disciple: Becoming Disciples Through Bible Study, is a thirty-four week study. Studying both the Old and New Testaments, emphasis is placed on the wholeness of the Bible as the revelation of God.

Into the Word Into the World is a thirty-two week study. This study selects specific portions of Scripture for deeper study. Concentration is placed on four books: Genesis, Exodus, Luke and Acts.

Disciple: Remember Who You Are, is a thirty-two week study with participants reading all Major and Minor Old Testament prophets, with the exception of Daniel. The study also includes the thirteen Letters attributed to the Apostle Paul.

Disciple, Under the Tree of Life, is a thirty-two week study. The study covers the Books of Ruth, 1 and 2 Chronicles, Ezra, Nehemiah, Esther and Daniel, and the Books of Poetry and Wisdom. The New Testament Scriptures include the Gospel of John; 1, 2, and 3 John, James, Jude, and Revelation.

Disciples Classes will star back this fall. Please come to the information meeting Sunday, July 31st at 5:00pm in the Chapel .
